House of Heroes, Inc.
For more than 26 years, House of Heroes, Inc. has been honoring our nation’s heroes by providing critical home repairs and improvements to military and public safety veterans and their families. Since our founding in 2000, we have repaired more than 2,400 homes across 18 states, with a total value of more than $24,000,000.
This work would not be possible without the generosity and commitment of our volunteers, corporate partners, churches, civic organizations, and community supporters. To date, more than 300,000 volunteers and community partners have helped us make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and their families.
Our chapters continue to grow and make an impact. In 2025, House of Heroes-Connecticut had a record year, assisting 36 veterans. House of Heroes-Chattahoochee Valley Chapter also assisted 36 veterans in 2025.
Today, House of Heroes is focused on reaching even more veterans who need help. We are currently working to establish new chapters in Alabama and Texas while expanding our reach into additional cities throughout Georgia. Our goal is to build on the successful model we have developed over more than two decades and bring House of Heroes to communities where veterans are waiting for assistance.

Chattahoochee Valley
The Chattahoochee Valley Chapter was the 1st Chapter to be developed by House of Heroes, Inc. in 2008. HOH-CVC serves the Chattahoochee Valley area in Muscogee County, Harris County and Chattahoochee County in Georgia. They also serve Russell and Lee Counties in Alabama.
Connecticut
The Connecticut Chapter located in Hamden, CT was founded in 2012 by Bill May and Steve Cavanaugh. Together, with the help of family and friends, HOHCT envisions an expansion of HOH nation-wide with the CT Chapter setting the standard for new chapter development.
Restoring More Than a Home: Mrs. Williams' Story
When Mrs. Williams, the widow of a military veteran, reached out to House of Heroes, she was worried about more than just her home—she was worried about her safety.
Her kitchen floor had become so unstable that it sloped dramatically. Every time she opened her refrigerator door, food and containers would slide forward and fall onto the floor. She knew something was wrong, but living on a limited income, she had no way to afford the repairs.
House of Heroes sent one of our skilled volunteer inspectors to assess the damage. What he discovered was far more serious than anyone expected. The floor joists beneath the kitchen had rotted to the point that the structural integrity of the floor had been compromised. Without repair, the floor could have eventually failed, placing Mrs. Williams at significant risk of injury.
Thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers, House of Heroes was able to respond. Our volunteer team removed the damaged subfloor, replaced the deteriorated floor joists, installed new subflooring, and completed the kitchen with beautiful new flooring. What had once been a dangerous space became a safe, secure place where Mrs. Williams could once again cook, gather, and live without fear.
Mrs. Williams' story is not unique.
Across our community, many aging veterans and surviving spouses live in homes that have become unsafe because they simply cannot afford costly repairs. They often face leaking roofs, failing floors, unsafe electrical systems, inaccessible bathrooms, broken heating and air conditioning, and other hazards that threaten their health and independence.
These heroes spent their lives serving our nation and protecting our communities. Yet when they need help maintaining the homes they earned through that service, few financial resources are available to them.
House of Heroes bridges that gap.
We provide the building materials, skilled volunteer labor, project management, and compassionate support needed to restore safe, accessible homes—at no cost to the veteran or surviving spouse. More importantly, we restore hope. Every repaired home sends a powerful message:
